Dinner - Tuesday to Saturday nights from 6pm.
Brunch & Casual Lunch - Thursday to Sunday 8am to 3pm.

Buggles and Squeak have a favourite breakfast spot, Bar Mattino in Chippendale.
Bar Mattino is closed Saturdays, so we have always faced the dilemma of where to breakfast when those Saturday morning hunger pangs hit.

Fouratefive hit the spot for a while.... but seriously, who can be bothered queueing (no matter how good that toasted sandwich is!).

Well thankfully, Orto Trading Co has stepped up to the plate and is serving one of the best & most imaginative breakfasts in Sydney.

Arriving at a bit after 8am, we virtually have the restaurant to ourselves!!
We grab one of the outside tables, order coffee & peruse the extensive menu.

Last time we were here, I ordered Orto’s house made crumpets with passionfruit, lime curd, fresh strawberries and ricotta and Buggles ordered the Hot-smoked fillet of ocean trout with heirloom tomato bruchetta, fresh lime and a poached egg, both of which were unbelievably spectacular, so we are filled with high hopes as we sit down to breakfast again.

As a lover of all things potato, how can I not order Potato rosti stuffed with feta, served with mushrooms and sauteed spinach, topped with poached eggs and hollandaise? The rosti is golden fried, crisp & divine (one minor complaint would be, that on our last visit it perhaps contained a little more feta); however, the mushrooms are earthy, buttery and delicious, the eggs are beautifully poached and the hollandaise is rich and creamy with just the right amount of acidity. The side of smoked Berkshire bacon is also very, very good.
One can ask no more of a breakfast. It is a work of art.

Buggles goes with Boston baked beans served with maple glazed pearl onions,

pork belly and a poached egg. She too, is suitably impressed. The beans are well cooked in a lovely, rich tomato sauce; once again the egg is perfectly poached, while the pork belly is stupendous with its crisp, salty crackling. Buggles is well pleased.

Service at Orto is as good as the food. This restaurant is the complete package and we love it.

We seriously cannot wait to return.

'tato rosti stuffed with feta sounds delish! And pork belly for brekkie? Sounds like my cup of tea! We don't eat out for breakfast very often but might have to make an exception for this!

Wow, all this food looks incredible! Though the potato rosti with feta in particular looks like something really special. Will be heading to this place for brunch very soon!
