Review: St Jude

728 Bourke Street
Redfern

Ph: 93103523

7am - late afternoon daily

After our recent amazing experience at Reuben Hills, the hunt was on for yet another cafe to tickle our taste buds.

We had passed by St Jude on a few occasions, however today, we decide to stop.
It is relatively early (around 8), so the cafe is pretty empty and we score a table very easily.

The menu, while not huge, offers some interesting choices and today Buggles decides on the Sweet Corn and Pumpkin Fritters served with a soft poached egg, avocado cream, hollandaise, shaved zucchini and baby spinach salad.

Review: Alio

5 Baptist Street,
Surry Hills

02 8394 9368
alioptyltd@iprimus.com.au

Dinner
Mon - Sat from 6pm

When Buggles and I started 'dating' 12 long years ago, Alio was our go to restaurant. We loved kicking back with a Mojito and enjoying their take on modern Italian cuisine.

Over the years our tastes have broadened and Alio seemed to get left behind.
Then late last year we attended an Italian Feast cooking class headed by Ashley Hughes and the memories came flooding back.

So at long last, we are returning.

Review: The Fern

4 Pitt Street
Redfern

p: 83990070

Brunch
Tues - Sun: 8am - 3pm
Dinner
Thurs - Sat: 6pm - 10pm

Squeak has long regretted moving away from her beloved Redfern. Even before it became 'up and coming' she had seen its potential and always enjoyed the village vibe along with its proximity to all things Surry Hills! The Fern is just one place that has tapped into the potential of the 'fern along with  Pitt Street Diner, Patagonian Toothfish, Dryland Bar, Baffi & Mo and Eathouse Diner. The Fern is perhaps a little removed from the rest of these, being closer to Cleveland Street, but, being set a little back from the street in a lovely old terrace house makes for a charming setting for a spot of Sunday brekkie.

Review : Pitt St Diner

96 Pitt Street Redfern

Breakfast & Lunch
Monday-Sunday

I love Redfern. I have lived in Redfern on & off over the years, before finally settling in the Inner West about 10 years ago.

Talk of Redfern's 'transformation' has been ongoing.... finally though, things seem to be chugging along.

We return to 'the Fern' this Sunday morning for a spot of breakfast at the relatively newly opened Pitt Street Diner.

Review : The Norfolk on Cleveland

305 Cleveland Street
Surry Hills

Open 7 days for lunch & dinner

We were on our way to Fratelli Fresh, but with rumbling bellies we decided to stop in at the newly refurbished Norfolk on Cleveland for a spot of lunch.

The Norfolk is the new venture for Thomas Lim (ex Tetsuya's), following Duke Bistro at The Flinders Hotel.

We were looking forward to sampling the 'Mexican' inspired menu.

Review: Eathouse Diner

306 Chalmers Street
(cnr Redfern Street)
Redfern

Monday-Saturday 6pm- 10pm

As observant readers of Buggles & Squeak will know, Squeak has a real penchant for all things 'Americana' when it comes to food. So when we read about the opening of the Eathouse Diner and we saw the words 'Southern Fried Chicken and Slaw', and 'Philly Cheese Steak Rolls' I knew that we would be heading there very soon indeed.

Review : Baffi & Mo

94 Redfern St

Baffi & Mo is a cafe I ride by every day on my way to work & have longed to visit.
One lazy weekday Buggles & I decided to do so.
